Sustained and inclusive economic growth can drive progress, create decent jobs for all and improve living standards.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a historic recession with record levels of deprivation and unemployment, creating an unprecedented human crisis that is hitting the poorest hardest.

The International Monetary Fund has reassessed the prospect for growth for 2020 and 2021, declaring that we have entered a recession – as bad as or worse than in 2009. As job losses escalate, the International Labor Organization estimates that nearly half of the global workforce is at risk of losing their livelihoods.

EUTEC Chamber calls for untied efforts on beating the virus and also on tackling its profound consequences. Countries, organizations, institutions, entities and technology forces can make a change by protecting jobs, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting social cohesion and etc. The world is at our hands.  Let us work together to set the world on a more sustainable development path and make the global economy more resilient to future shocks.
