SDG #3: Healthy lives and well-being

“With great technology comes great responsibility”
The European Technology Chamber (EUTECC) believes that technology obliges and should serve a greater good, hence our mission is to effectively use technology to solve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In our series, we are looking at all SDGs individually and today, we focus on SDG 3.

Goal #3: Good health and well-being

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages is essential for sustainable development, and despite great improvements in people’s health and well-being in recent years, there are still major inequalities in health care and accessibility to health care worldwide. Even today, more than six million children die before their fifth birthday from preventable diseases, malnutrition and pollution and only half of all women in developing countries have access to the health care they need while epidemics like HIV/AIDS, Malaria and even Measles still strive. For real change it is essential to provide universal health coverage, making medicines and vaccines accessible and affordable and to ensure that everyone has full access to essential health care.

How can technology help to ensure this goal? From opening routes into education, modern manufacturing for less pollution, urban spaces that promote healthy living to pollution-free mobility, there are numerous ways in how innovative technologies can help address the major obstacles and ensure good health and well-being for all.
